Regional Disaster Prevention Seminar 2015 ーWhat can we do in case of emergencies?-

 A regional disaster prevention seminar was held on Aug. 1.  The seminar's subtitle of this year is 'What can we do in case of emergencies?'  The first section was 'Listen to a lecture from an office worker from Nara City Office'  The second section was 'Think'  The third section was 'Experience'

The First Section 'Listen to a lecture from an office worker from Nara City Office' 

Mr. Fujimura from Nara City Office gave us a lecture.  First, he gave quizes about disaster prevention.  Then he talked about the mechanism of earthquakes and his experience to rescue in Tohoku after the earthquake occurred.    

 

The Second Section 'Think'  Look around your town

Mr.Fujimura managed the second section, too.  The participants were devided into some groups and discussed advantages of our town and how we can make our town better from the viewpoints of disaster prevention.  

 

  

The Third Section  Experience 

 We went out of the gym and experienced a variety of activities.  First, we cooked emergency provisions.  We cooked curry and rice.

 

 

Then, we experienced smoke, earthquake car, and spraying water

 

   

 

'Cutural Festival 2015' on Sep.18

Let’s enjoy!!! ~ A Festival Created by 300 students ~

1.Opening Ceremony

 The representative of the student festival council said, "Let's exert what you have done for today's festival!"  Principal said, "Make the festival moving to all the people and enjoy yourselves."

 

2.Midori Classroom Presentation

Midori Classroom students danced 'eisa',Okinawan traditional dancing.

 

3.Computer Club Presentation

First, they showed messages from 9th graders to 7th and 8th graders.  Then they explained the contents of displays in classrooms.

 

4.Stundent Council Presentation

They asked for donation to Higashinihon Big Earthquake and introduced ESD activities.

 

5.7th graders' Presentation

They talked about the school trip in center of Nara City.

 

6.8th graders' Presentation 

They talked about the school trip in Kyoto City.

 

7.9th graders' Presentation

They introduced the school trip in Okinawa.

12.Closing Ceremony

First, the results of classroom chrus competitions were announced.  The first prizes went to 7th grade 1st classroom, 8th grade 1st classroom,and 9th grade 2nd classroom.

Finally, principal said," I was very impressed because the festival was very warm hearted."

 

'Athletic Meet 2015' on Oct. 6

    Make forward by leaps and bounds to victory!

1.Opening Ceremony

Principal said, "Exert what you have tried for a long time.  Try hard to make wonderful impression to those who watch the meet. 

The representative of the student athletic meet council said, "Do your best to make this year's athletic meet more wonderful than last year."

Then all the students sang the school song.  The cheerleaders of three color groups took athlete's oath of fair play.  Competitions started after radio gymnastic exercises.

 

2.Individual Events

50m hurdle, high jump, 100meters, steeplechase, 200meters, three-legged race

 

 

New records were established in 9th grade women 50meters hurdle and 7th grade women 100meters.

3.Inter-color Comepetition Events

centipede race, long rope jump, women 400meters relay, men 800meters relay

 

 

4.Grade Events

7th grade: mock cavalry battle, 8th grade: steeplechase relay by all the stundents, 9th grade: relay by all the students

  

 

5.Cheering Battle by Green Group, Red Group, and Yellow Group

  

 

6.Elementary and Junior High School Exchange Event

We invited 6th graders of Ukyo Elementary School and Jingu Elementary School to our athletic meet and let them join two items.

 

7.Inter-color Comepetition Events

8.Closing Ceremony

First, representatives from Ukyo Elementary School and Jingu Elementary School 6th graders made a thank-you speech.  In response to that, head of the student council said, "You may have anxiety about school life in junior high school, but we have a lot of enjoyable events.  Look forwards to them and see you in April."

 

And the results were announced.  Overall victory went to Yellow Group.  Red Group won in the cheering battle.  Victory in each grade: 7th 3rd classroom, 8th grade 2nd classroom, and 9th grade 2nd classroom 

 

Finally, principal said, "It was wonderful that many people were moved to watch your concentration.  I am sure this tradition will be taken over to the following students."

The representative of the student athletic meet council said, "This athletic meet was the last for 9th graders, and we made it supreme."

 

'Election of the Student Council' on Oct.8

8 students ran for members of the student council for 8 seats, which means all the candidates will become members of the student council.  They made speeches on what they want to do when they become members of the student council.  Present student council members announced that 10,787 yen was donated to Higashinihon Big Earthquake by students.

 

'Jingu Autumn Festival' on Oct. 18 

Brass Band Club was invited to the festival and played 5 songs including an encore.

 

Work Experience by 8th Graders from Oct.20 until Oct.22

8th graders worked at 35 workplaces from Oct.20 until Oct.22.  Examples of the workplaces are temples, kindergartens, a library, a bus company, an art museum, an FM station, a train station, a photo studio, a cake shop, a fire station, a hospital, and a supermarket.  The aims of this activity are 'work at a traditional industry in Nara and realize the situation of the industry', 'enhance desire and interest toward working through this experience', 'foster the ability to decide on their own career paths', and 'learn manners as members of society'

  

 

Lessons to 9th Graders from Dispatched High School Teachers on Oct.22

9th graders received lessons from high school teachers at our school.  The teachers are from Nara Suzaku High School, Shikino High School, and Heijo High School.

 

 

 

The details are as follows.

 

・Education Course of Heijo High School

 After explanation about the Education Course, students discussed 'What hinders study?'  Then the teacher expained what is important in education.

 

 

・Home Economics of Shikino High School

Through the experience of making  Marzipan (German), students learned the pleasure of food processing. 

 

 

・Commerce Course of Nara Suzaku High School

 Students learned how to exchange checks and basic bookkeeping.

 

 

・Industry Course of Nara Suzaku High School

 The teacher introduced lessons relating to practical life.

 

 

 

 A Stay in Obama from Oct.22 until Oct.23

7th graders stayed in Obama City, Fukui Pref., for two days.  Obama City is a sister city of Nara City.  The aims of this program are 'to come in contact with the cultural climate of Obama and educate themselves', 'to improve normative consciousness through group actions', and 'to build better human relations through the activities'

An English Speech Contest by 9th Graders on Oct. 29

We held an English speech contest by 9th graders.  The theme was 'A gift of Nara I recommend'  The followings are cards students made for their presentations.

 

Principal stated his impressions after the presentations.  He lectured about some tips on making presentations.

School Assembly on Nov. 12

The attestation ceremony for new student council members and new student committee members was held on Nov. 12. 

 

A Gathering to Consider Life on Nov. 17

We held a gathering to consider life on Nov. 17.  First, principal expalined the meaning of the gathering.  Then, he said, 'Junior high school students are not only helped by regional people but also help younger children.  Keep it in mind that you must protect your own lives.' 

 

 

Club Activity Experience for 6th Graders of Ukyo & Jingu Elementary School on Nov. 17

 

84 6th graders from Ukyo & Jingu Elementary School came to our school and joined club activities.

Our school was founded in 1972.

We really thank regional people who attended the cleaning from early morning.

The students attended lectures by Nara Municipal Fire Department and Fire Corps Volunteers.

An Earthquake Drill on Jan. 21

We held a surprise earthquake drill.

 

Eiken Test (English Proficiency Test) on Jan. 22 

20 students and pupils took the test.

 

A National Summit of Elementary and Junior High School Consistency in Education on Jan. 29

More than 600 participants came to our school district in spite  of rain. 

Our students tried very hard to prepare for the summit. 

Students were nervous because the participants were more than they had expected.  But once the lessons started, they joined the lessons very enthusiastically just like they do in ordinary lessons.   

 

A Welfare Workshop to 7th Graders on March 2nd

The 7th graders experienced getting into wheelchairs and wearing eye masks.     

Many stundets have never exoerienced pushing wheelchairs, so they have learned a lot about handling wheelchairs.

 

Through experiencing eye masks, they realized relationship of mutual trust between caregivers and disable persons is very important.
